However, there is another way to save your current configuration locally (on your computer)
but it's not pretty, and, any time you make any changes to your configuration,
you will need to re-save the "hex" file. Here are the steps:
* Go to the website (http://members.harmonyremote.com) and login with your account.
- Make sure your remote is plugged in and click on Update My Remote.
- Click on next and you will see the following:
Connect the Harmony (model number or name) using the USB cable provided.
- Click Next to continue.
- When you click next again, the software will attempt to make sure your Harmony is connected with the connectivity test.
- Click download files, then RUN and your connectivity will be established.)
- Once that is complete, you will be prompted to click Next again.
This is the part you want to save. - Disconnect your Harmony - then click on next.
- It will give you the option to RUN or SAVE the file.
- Save it to your desktop or wherever and you will have saved your configuration the way it is set up at that moment.
Remember, if you make any changes to your account configuration (using either the desktop software or the web based software), it will become the new way your Harmony will update permanently--unless you change your settings back to the way they were.
In other words, you can use that hex file to put your remote back to the state it was when you saved the file,
but you would need to re-save the hex file if you make more configuration changes and are happy with the results.
This is a lot of work, although to my knowledge, it is the only way to get a "local" copy of your configuration.
And be aware, you cannot edit the file you save--it is what it is when you save it--no more and no less.
** How to restore the saved ( hex ) settings to my remote ?
You restore the settings back to their original state by clicking on the saved file where you saved it on your computer
--it will most likely look like the Harmony Remote "core" icon which is similar to a radio or TV transmitter.
It will still use the desktop software to update your remote but it will update the remote with the file you previously
saved and not with any additional changes you might have made to your configuration since saving the file (using the desktop software or the web interface).
VIEL ERFOLG !
